Garden, forest and fountain of Can Gatxet

Garden, forest and fountain of Can Gatxet

A natural setting featuring Mediterranean vegetation, a historic fountain, a pond and old footpaths. Ideal for peaceful walks and children’s activities.

The Can Gatxet Wood and Fountain form part of a former romantic-style woodland garden, linked to the tower situated between Toledo Street, Bilbao Avenue and Pontevedra Street. Elements of great value from this historic complex are still preserved, such as the fountain, a small pond framed by adobe bricks, stone walls, a built-in bench, and old paths and stairways that wound their way up the hill. Today, a wooden footbridge connects Toledo Street and Pontevedra Street, allowing visitors to explore this natural space, rich in cool, shady vegetation, with holm oaks, Pyrenean oaks and other Mediterranean species that create a shady and peaceful atmosphere. Points of interest: The plane tree at the Can Gatxet fountain: a listed specimen situated next to the fountain and the Can Gatxet pond. The fountain, benches and pond complex: in days gone by, residents of Mira-sol and other parts of Sant Cugat used this historic spot to meet up or to fetch water from the fountain.
