GR 6 Montserrat Trail. From Barcelona to the Monastery of Montserrat
A route that starts in the Horta labyrinth (Barcelona) and goes through Collserola, Vallès and Llobregat until reaching Montserrat.
The GR 6 is a long-distance path that begins in the Labyrinth of Horta, in the city of Barcelona, and ends in the Montserrat Abbey. The route, almost 60 km long, advances through the Collserola mountain range, the Vallès plain, the Llobregat valley and the Montserrat Mountain Natural Park.
The itinerary between Barcelona and Montserrat is a classic hike that can be structured in several stages, although there are hikers who do it on a single and demanding hiking day. If you choose to divide the route, the most common option is to do it in three stages. In the first stage, you cross the Collserola mountain range, pass through Sant Cugat del Vallès and continue to Sant Quirze del Vallès. In the second one, you continue crossing the Vallès plain but now heading west until you reach the town of Olesa de Montserrat. In the third stage, you cross the Llobregat river, advance to Collbató, at the foot of Montserrat, and climb to the Abbey on the southern slope of the emblematic mountain.
Note: The itinerary signs may vary over time to accommodate changes due to incidents on roads and terrain. We recommend documenting yourself in detail before doing this route.
